Interested in growing a social media following that can truly help you or your business? In order to create a true following, you need to use these nine crucial strategies.
Let's face it, we're all guilty of it. Even while we all claim not to be concerned with our social media following, the truth is...we all care!
The number of followers on social media is not a guarantee of a social media account's worth, if you're an experienced digital marketer. But you also know that having a large number of followers is not useless. If you have a large number of followers (whether you want it or not), others will consider following you.
More followers also means a greater potential for influence and exposure (provided those followers are real and relevant to your business).
1. Follow Real People And Attractive Accounts
You must first be a good follower before you can expect to be followed. To create your own following, you must first find and follow actual individuals and businesses that are relevant to your business. This is also a prerequisite for several of the other techniques outlined below.
If your profile is entirely filled out and your feed is full of interesting and relevant posts, some of these individuals may follow you back.
In addition to providing you with a foundation of individuals with whom to connect, following good, active accounts in your business sector will help you increase your following in a variety of ways.
2. Upload Quality Content
Someone who is worth following must have some "there" about him or her. It is essential that your profile be well-rounded.
They are the ones who take the time to read your profile before they follow you. This is because they'll want to see whether there's anything worthwhile to watch for.
You want to make sure that your feed/timeline is always presenting recently shared and useful material. Others will look over your feed to make sure you're active and that you won't spam them if they decide to follow you. Whenever possible, pin your most important material to the top of your feed on social networks that support it.
3. Be Active With Your Posts
If you want to create a valuable following of actual people, you need to be active and involved on social media.
Users of social media are weary of link feeds, and they're not the only ones. In addition, commenting and resharing other people's posts rapidly proves your presence on the social network and that you're not a bot.
Instead of just resharing someone else's message, explain why you're doing so and tag the original author wherever you can. When retweeting on Twitter, use the Quote option.
4. Post What Is On Trend
In my experience, I nearly always get new followers when I post something that is extensively shared on social media. Since then, I've paid close attention to the types of social media postings that garner the most attention.
Since this is a business-oriented approach, I'll leave out memes and other funny stuff that is sure to garner a lot of reshares on social media sites.
The risk of expressing a strong opinion about a topic that is important to your audience is worth the visibility, engagement, and sharing that it will generate. It was deemed heresy by some when I initially made the assertion that social network signals are not a direct ranking factor for Google. However, I was cautious to back up my claim with solid rationale and facts. Then people will want to follow you so they don't miss out on what's happening in your business.
5. Use Appropriate Hashtags
On Twitter and Instagram, for example, I regularly get new followers when I utilize the correct hashtags.
With a new hashtag, always take a moment to think before you act. Verify that it isn't being used for anything that you don't want your brand connected with on the network.
It is possible to identify the ideal hashtags for each of your posts using tools such as Ritetag.com.
So these are some ways in which you can gain a few followers or a lot of followers if you do it in a correct and consistent way. These tips have helped me to achieve the followers I have on my social networks and they will surely help you too!
